Perfect sailing conditions greeted the 14-yacht fleet competing for the “H.O.R.C Cup”, a two day regatta, compromising by up to 6 Windward-Leeward races. The experienced Racing Committee easily managed to conclude 3 races today since the breeze was consistent in strength and direction. OPTIMUM-ASPIDA-SAXOBANK scored 8, 8 and 10 for the day and is lying in 9th place on the scoreboard.
“One may think that our results for the day are poor, but I can assure you we fought hard for 5 hours out there and it was tough and close racing. A racing 52-footer like OPTIMUM-ASPIDA-SAXOBANK is fully loaded up with 12 knots of wind and we had that and beyond all day long! Add to that it was our first race day for the 2014 season plus racing boat to boat against a newcomer TP52 in the Greek fleet and adrenaline was pouring all over aboard. On our way back to base, we felt good about our performance and concentrated of analyzing the mistakes we did and we should avoid repeating tomorrow. So thumbs up and let the season roll”, calls Alexis Chrysochoides, a long standing OPTIMUM member and skilled trimmer.
