Following our retirement in Aegean 600 due to a technical issue, Team OPTIMUM-Samos Steamship members returned back in action last weekend on board our thoroughbred race yacht OPTIMUM S. The plan is to complete a few training sessions to smooth out our crew work and check all systems for Hydra Race and Winter Series organized by Yacht Club Greece every weekend from late October all the way to end of November. Most of the Team members remained active in the three-month period that OPTIMUM S was on the hard, either through OPTIMUM Sailing Academy Dehler 30ods or racing on other yachts.
“We fixed the issue on the bottom part of the mainsail mast track, although with a delay due to miscommunication among Harken, Southern Spars and us. The retirement in Aegean 600 followed by not competing in the Aegean Rally and Andros Race derailed our race schedule and build-up, so we had to abandon our plans for Rolex Middle Sea Race too. But we are back in action, all the guys together in good spirit, training and looking forward to enjoying five consecutive race weekends and close the 2024 season on a high”, states Nikos Lazos, Team Optimum co-Principal.
At the same time, OPTIMUM Sailing Academy Dehler 30ods, OPTIMUM 4 and LAVORO III, effectively supported by LALIZAS and PERFORMANCE TECHNOLOGIES, continue to deliver on their mission to seduce the young generation of sailors to offshore racing and at the same time post some notable results on various events. As such, OPTIMUM 4 and LAVORO III managed 2nd and 3rd place in 7th Kallithea Cup that compromises of the results in Korfos, Agistri and Methana Race.
Competitive sailing is our passion, and we are happy to share our story with you all.
Stay tuned!
